Fundamentals of Data Research (FDR) Fellowship
The Fundamentals of Data Research (FDR) Fellowship is a competitive program for Baylor graduate students and faculty from all disciplines. While our team offers consultations based on availability, the FDR Fellowship provides a structured partnership to guarantee dedicated support for a data-intensive research project.
Over a five-month cohort, fellows meet bi-weekly with our team to gain skills in data analysis, visualization, and scripting. This tailored assistance is designed to help fellows deeply integrate digital scholarship methods into their work. The fellowship culminates in a showcase where fellows present their project outcomes to the Baylor community.
How to Apply
Applications for the Spring/Summer and Summer/Fall cohorts open each year in November and March, respectively. The application form will be made available on this page during those periods.
Data Scholar Program
The Baylor Libraries’ Data Scholar Program is a flexible, self-paced program designed to help all Baylor researchers build essential skills in data and digital scholarship. Through a series of on-demand video modules available in Canvas, participants can learn about data visualization, text data mining, Python scripting, research data management, and finding secondary data. Researchers earn digital badges for completing modules in a specific category and can be awarded a full Data Scholar certificate to recognize their achievement.

Data Literacy Microcourse
If you're looking to give your students (or yourself!) a basic introduction to what data is and how to use data, the Libraries’ Data Literacy microcourse is a great place to start! This microcourse is part of the Libraries’ Literacy Initiative, which includes microcourses for other types of literacy as well, like Information literacy and Media literacy. The Data Literacy microcourse takes a beginner-level approach to introducing data literacy and why it’s important to develop our data literacy skills.
Learners may self-enroll at: https://baylor.instructure.com/enroll/WWXKDL
The expected time commitment for the Data Literacy module is 10-15 minutes. Faculty will find instructions and prepared assignments in Canvas Commons (just search "literacies").
