Supporting Teaching with Learning Design
Who Are We?
Part of the Learning Design team, Instructional Support Services (ISS) is a single point of contact for faculty seeking assistance with Canvas course administration and guidance on digital pedagogy.
What Do We Do?
ISS bridges the gap in the course design lifecycle between initial development and substantial redevelopment. Following our threefold service model, our specialists:
- Manage routine course maintenance, leaving faculty free to focus on teaching.
- Engage faculty in productive “what-if ” conversations to improve learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate learning technologies that enhance students’ experiences.
How Can We Help?
The ISS team assists instructors in three areas: Canvas course readiness, incremental course changes, and faculty onboarding and training.
Canvas Course Readiness
Canvas courses and cars have something in common: both require routine maintenance to keep running smoothly. The ISS team is here to guide faculty through the steps of preparing existing courses for each new term. We work to ensure course accessibility and ease of use for students and instructors.
Incremental Course Changes
Have you finished working with a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) to design or redesign your course, but you've realized that you could improve your students' experience in the course by making a few adjustments? The ISS team is prepared to assist faculty with implementing a variety of incremental changes in between major stages of the course design lifecycle.
Faculty Onboarding & Training
Our resources, workshops, and one-on-one consultations are designed to help both new and experienced instructors.
To learn more about our services, please see the pages linked below that outline procedures for each of the course types we support.
Who Do We Help?
Currently, the ISS team works with instructors who teach two types of courses. Choose one of the links below to learn more about policies and procedures for each course type.
