Laura Semrau joins Baylor as Humanities Librarian

The Baylor Libraries is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Semrau as their new Humanities Librarian on September 1, 2022.

Semrau most recently served as a liaison to the Humanities department at New York University Adu Dhabi, located in the United Arab Emirates. In this role, she managed collection development and local acquisitions procedures, and assisted academic departments with instruction sessions. Additionally, she has five years of experience as a Collections Assistant at the MIT Humanities Library where she processed monographs, serials, and journals and provided reference services.

Semrau was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wheaton College, a Master of Arts in Humanities with a concentration in English Literature from University of Chicago, and a Master of Library and Information Science from Simmons University. She co-authored an article in College & Research Libraries News (June 2012) entitled “Lessons Learned: Five Pieces of Advice for Newbie Researchers.”

Semrau looks forward to combining her master’s degrees in Humanities and Library Science as well as her previous work experience in her new role as the Humanities Librarian at Baylor University.
