The Baylor Libraries will welcome Laura Morrell as their new Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian on Friday, December 1. Morrell comes to the Libraries after serving as Serials Specialist at the Baylor Law Library since 2020. She recently completed a Master of Library and Information Science at the University of North Texas and is excited to delve deeper into the profession.

"After working in public libraries and in a law library, I am excited to join the Cataloging and Metadata Services team at the Baylor Libraries. I look forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of students, faculty, and researchers by providing them the materials they need to succeed."

Morrell graduated from Baylor University with a Film and Digital Media degree in 2010. She worked with BaylorVision for several years providing video content for athletic events, even commuting from Texas A&M Commerce where her husband worked as a hall director for a year. In 2015, she discovered an interest in librarianship and accepted a position with the Waco-McLennan County Library as a circulation associate. She became the Children's Library Associate in 2017 and three years later transitioned to the Baylor Law Library where she managed the serials collection.

Along with engaging the challenges of her new role, Morrell is eager to be back on the main Baylor campus and looks forward to working on projects and enjoying lunches with her new colleagues.

"With Morrell's appointment the Libraries have added another excellent, qualified colleague to our team," said Jeffry Archer, Dean of Libraries, Museums, and the Press. "With our blend of existing and new librarians, the Libraries are prepared to support the university's continued growth as an R1 institution."
