Passport to Media Literacy (October 2)

KWBU, the Baylor Department of Journalism, Public Relations, and New Media, and the Baylor Libraries invite everyone to Moody Memorial Library for an experiential journey toward better media literacy!
Passport to Media Literacy
Wednesday, October 2, 2024
2:00-4:00 p.m.
Garden Level Group Learning Commons, Moody Memorial Library
on the campus of Baylor University
Pick up your passport and travel through a series of experiences designed to expand your horizons of understanding about media platforms. In a time when social trust in news media and other traditional information platforms has waned, it is more important than ever to understand how media platforms function and how to discover trustworthy information resources. Adventurers who complete the media literacy journey will punch their ticket for a cool treat!
Baylor faculty, librarians, and KWBU representatives will guide you through interactive experiences that will teach you to "sift" information and find quality research to inform your judgments, discern encoded race and gender stereotypes, "follow the money" behind media platforms, and consider particular biases when it comes to news platforms.
