Abby Gamble is an Assistant Director of Learning Design within Library and Academic Technology Services. In this role, she leads a team of talented colleagues while providing learning experience design for courses. She has worked at the intersection of technology and teaching in higher education for over 15 years. Her work in the online learning space is guided by a passion for preserving faculty authorship and autonomy while ensuring meaningful, high-caliber experiences for learners.
Most recently, Abby conducted research on online program manager’s in American higher education by analyzing federal data sets collected by the Department of Education. Her dissertation on this topic outlines complete details of the study and findings, contributing to the broader understanding of the OPM industry working within the academy. Her Ed.D. coursework also afforded valuable opportunities to learn about educational policy at the state, national and international levels through summer travel institutes.
Prior to joining the Learning Design team, she served as an Associate Director of Online MBA program, providing instructional design support and overseeing all aspects of faculty support and training. In this role, she gained a holistic understanding of program administration, from the admissions funnel to the online learning experience to retention, through to alumni relations.
Abby has presented topics such as online on-demand training for faculty and an innovative design for ‘live’ discussions in an asynchronous online program. She lives with her husband just outside of Waco. When they’re not following their youngest daughter’s band events, they love spending time with family and friends, sharing meals, games and stories.
