Emily MacDonald is the Museum Engagement Manager at the Mayborn Museum. In her role, Emily oversees programming for all ages, community outreach, gallery floor staff, and the Museum’s makerspace, Design Den. Since joining the museum as a graduate student employee in 2019, Emily has worked on various programs designed to engage and activate community members. This can be seen in her work with the Smithsonian Earth Optimism program, bringing climate education to area students and providing them with resources to make an impact in their community.  Emily has also worked closely with the Texas Children in Nature Network to enhance the museum’s nature learning opportunities. 

In addition to her work at the Mayborn, Emily is an adjunct lecturer in the Museum Studies Department, teaching courses like Introduction to Museums and Museum Ethics, as well as serving as the Chair for the Texas Association of Museums Educator’s Committee.
