Lela joined The Texas Collection & University Archives in October 2023 as the Coordinator of User & Access Services. In this position, Lela coordinates the Texas Collection’s Circulation Desk operations, processes Texas Collection books, and supports the goals of the Outreach and Instruction Librarian.
Lela graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in Russian. She is currently enrolled part-time in Baylor University’s Higher Education and Student Affairs master’s program.
Lela joined the Baylor Libraries in 2007, serving Moody and Jones Libraries' service desks as a night/weekend Library Information Specialist III where she helped with directional and basic reference questions. In 2015, she transitioned to the Baylor Law Library where she worked as a Circulation and Reserve Specialist. In this position, she coordinated the operation of their Circulation Desk and interlibrary loan program as well as led a team of 30 wonderful student workers.
When not working, Lela enjoys performing in local theater musical productions, thrift shopping, learning foreign languages, and traveling. She has had the privilege of visiting 20 countries including Australia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Israel, Morocco, Singapore, and Japan.
