Lesa Bush
- Associate Director, Mayborn Museum
Lesa Bush is the Associate Director of Education and Programs at Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum. Having served in several key roles during her tenure at the Mayborn, she is now a member of the museum’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing directly to strategic planning, operational strategy, and annual work plans. In her current role, Lesa works closely with team managers to guide public programming and volunteer engagement, while fostering collaborative relationships with university faculty, academic departments, community partners, and peer institutions.
Lesa began her career as an elementary school teacher, where a class field trip to a museum sparked her passion for informal education. Since then, her professional journey has included serving on the board of the Texas Association of Museums, participating in the Association of Science and Technology Centers’ Leadership Learning Lab, and presenting at national and regional museum conferences. In 2016, she launched the Mayborn’s Portal to the Public program, which trains researchers to share current scientific discoveries directly with museum visitors.
In addition to her work at the museum, Lesa has served as an adjunct instructor in Baylor University’s Museum Studies Department since 2012. Teaching the Introduction to Educational Programming course, she provides aspiring museum educators with hands-on opportunities to design real-world visitor experiences. Across all her work, Lesa is dedicated to demonstrating the vital role informal learning organizations play in fostering lifelong learning.
