Ligia took up her role in Library Cataloging Management Support in January 2024. She is originally from São Paulo, Brazil, and came to Baylor for graduate school in the School of Music in 2019. She started music lessons at six, enrolled in piano lessons at nine, and in 2015 moved to the U.S. to pursue music at Eastern Kentucky University on a full scholarship for piano performance. She earned many honors during her undergraduate career, played domestically and internationally in competitions, taught university courses and masterclasses, and picked up a second major through a scholarship in French Language and Culture. At Baylor, she completed her first master’s in Piano Performance and Pedagogy in 2021 and her second in Music Theory in 2023. She served as adjunct faculty in the School of Music in Spring 2024, teaching Introduction to Musicianship and Musicianship I.

Publications & Presentations

“Cirandinhas by Heitor Villa-Lobos: Pedagogical Implications and Brazilian Nationalism” was presented at NCKP: The Piano Conference (July 2021), Texas Music Teacher Association Collegiate Conference (July 2021), and Music Teacher’s National Association Collegiate Chapter Symposium (January 2021).
