Melissa Pennington

Melissa Pennington is the Museum Engagement Coordinator for weekly family programming at the Mayborn Museum. She develops, oversees, and facilitates vibrant programs for families that highlight the museums’ rich collections and exhibits, while building relationships within the museum and across the university and the community.
As a native of Waco, Melissa began her career in education as a public- school teacher at several area schools where she taught for 25 years. With a lifelong love of museums and history, she later made the transition to informal education at the Mayborn Museum where she finds it to be the perfect place to draw upon her years of experience working with children and families. Melissa loves the freedom to imagine, create, and inspire learning through books, objects, and relationships with a new generation of learners guided by hands-on, inquiry – based programming each week.
