Dr. Trey Crumpton is Exhibits Development and Events Manager at Baylor University's Mayborn Museum, where he leads exhibit design and renovation projects for permanent galleries, provides leadership and support for Events at the Mayborn. Trey also oversees operations for Baylor’s historic properties in Independence, Texas, including the original Male and Female Baylor Campuses and the Independence Visitor Center.

Since being hired as a student employee in 2003, and then coming on as full-time staff in 2006, he has served in a variety of roles on collections, education, visitor services, and exhibits teams. His major projects include Discovery room renovations (2016), Backyard Ecology (2019), Founding to Future (2020), Mayborn Mammoth Bronzes (2024), and Cultural Crossroads (2026), which are collaborative, team efforts which stretch across the university and the community. The Mayborn supports and disseminates Baylor research through these projects, and targeted efforts like Etruscan Legacy and One Health: Galapagos, exhibits which highlight student study abroad programs.

Trey has helped the Mayborn and the University become more connected to colleagues and institutions across the globe. He wrote the successful application to become a Smithsonian Affiliate (2022), and serves as co-chair of the Association of Science and Technology Center’s Natural History Network. He has served in various roles in the Museum Association of Waco, Texas Association of Museums, and is an adjunct instructor in Baylor’s Department of Museum Studies. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking, writing, travel, and being outside.
