The University Libraries announce the addition of two major updates and several minor adjustments to OneSearch, the Libraries’ online catalog. Patrons can now request an item’s call number be texted to their mobile device and requests for materials from special collections can be made online as well.

“The option to text a call number is a very popular feature we are excited to offer our users,” said Denyse Rodgers, director of Library Systems. “It’s an extremely useful tool that makes it easier for them to locate an item in our physical stacks.”

Another new feature is the ability to request access to materials located in the Libraries special collections. These items typically do not circulate, so access is by appointment only. When users encounter such an item, they will see a link under the Location section labeled Special Collections Request that will lead them to a page where they can get more information.

Additional updates to OneSearch include revised language that makes navigating the system more user-friendly.

“We are very excited to add these new features to OneSearch and will continue to make improvements over the coming months,” Rodgers said. “It’s a powerful tool for researchers who are looking for ways to connect with our important library and archival resources.”
