2017 Keston Public Lecture: Roman Lunkin
The Keston Center for Religion, Politics, and Society welcomed Roman Lunkin of Moscow to lecture on Today’s Russia: Religion, Politics and Society at 3:30 pm on Friday, February 24 in Kayser Auditorium in the Hankamer Academic Center. A Woodrow Wilson Fellow, Dr. Lunkin serves as Senior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and writes on the intersection of society and culture and religion in Russia and Eurasia.
Following the address, a panel of experts discussed the topic and answered questions from the audience. The panel included Chairman Xenia Dennen of the Keston Institute in Oxford, former US Congressman Chet Edwards, and Baylor Political Science Professor Sergiy Kudelia. Wallace Daniel, Distinguished University Professor of History at Mercer University, moderated.
A reception for the speaker and panel preceded the lecture at 3:00 pm in the foyer outside Kayser Auditorium.
With Russia constantly in the international spotlight, this timely conversation provided an opportunity to broaden understanding of contemporary issues and have questions answered by experts on the region.
This lecture and panel event was co-sponsored by the Baylor International Studies Program, the Center for Global Engagement, the McBride Center for International Business, the Keston Institute, and the departments of Religion, Political Science, Modern Languages and Cultures, and History.
