Proctorio Service to be Discontinued

Proctorio will no longer be available for use as of Monday, August 17. Baylor has decided to move forward with a single proctoring option to reduce costs for the University and to provide a consistent experience for all students. Beginning in Fall 2020, Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor will be the only available online proctoring solution available for campus-wide use.

Respondus Monitor is a built-in companion for Respondus LockDown Browser that enables assessment sessions to be recorded with a webcam. Respondus Monitor is ideal for non-proctored environments where online tests pose unique challenges. Students use their own computer and a webcam to record assessment sessions, all without leaving Canvas. When an assessment requires Respondus Monitor, students start the LockDown Browser application, log into Canvas, and complete a brief video startup and ID verification sequence prior to the exam.

The student and the surrounding environment are recorded during the entire exam. Powerful analytics are used to detect suspicious behaviors during an exam session. Video segments with potential exam violations are flagged for the instructor with an overall risk level assigned to the exam session. Instructors can quickly review details of the assessment, examine still images captured at random times during the assessment, and even watch the entire recorded video if necessary.

If having students record their use of a software program (MATLAB, Excel, etc.) is the primary requirement rather than a traditional exam using a Canvas Quiz, you can ask students to use a simple desktop recording solution like Kaltura Capture to create a screen recording which can be submitted as an assignment.
