New Furnishings, Greenery in Moody Memorial Library Greet Returning Students and Faculty
When the Baylor Libraries welcomed students and faculty back into Moody Memorial and Jesse H. Jones Libraries on Tuesday morning to start the spring semester, there were a few new enhancements across the academic life center of the campus.
As a result of a highly successful "Chairs for Bears" fundraising campaign, chairs were replaced across the entire first and the majority of the second floors of Moody Memorial Library. These comfortable, adjustable, rolling chairs replaced seating that was part of the original furnishings of the library when it opened in 1968. The Libraries continue to raise funds as part of the "Chairs for Bears" campaign to replace all of the original chairs that remain on the third floor of Moody. If you would like to contribute, visit baylor.edu/library/give and explore the Dean of Libraries' Priorities tab.
Returning students and faculty also noticed new plants throughout Moody and Jones Libraries. The Libraries contracted with Green Life Interiors to provide and maintain a variety of plants to beautify and enhance our spaces. During the break, all of the existing plants aside from the trees in the Allbritton Foyer were replaced and other plants were added, particularly in the recently renovated learning environment on Moody's first floor. More plants are to come, but those that are in place have transformed the look and feel of the Libraries.
The Baylor Libraries continuously plan enhancements to our indoor and outdoor spaces. In the next few weeks, upgrades will begin in the Garden of Contentment, located on the north side of Armstrong Browning Library. New pavers and refreshed landscaping will draw individuals, groups, and outdoor events to enjoy the beauty of this area of Baylor's campus.
If you would like to contribute to these continued improvements to Baylor's learning environments, you can give to the Dean of Libraries Excellence Fund that provides funds that can be flexibly applied to just these sorts of projects.
