Baylor alumna and author Aurelia Davila Pratt will introduce her new book, “A Brown Girl's Epiphany: Reclaim Your Intuition and Step into Your Power,” and hold a book signing at Moody Memorial Library Oct. 18, 2022, at 6 p.m., as the first presenter in the Baylor Libraries Author Series.

"I am excited to inaugurate the Baylor Libraries Author Series with Aurelia Davila Pratt and to celebrate the release of 'Brown Girl's Epiphany.'" Her reflections on the Imago Dei and her experiences growing up will challenge and inspire everyone who hears her or reads her new book," Jeffry Archer, Dean of University Libraries, said.

The Rev. Aurelia Davila Pratt is a graduate of Baylor's Truett Seminary and School of Social Work. She is chair of the Board of Advocates at the School of Social Work. She is the lead pastor as well as a founder of Peace of Christ Church in Round Rock, Texas and co-creator and co-host of the Nuance Tea Podcast, where she is redefining what it means to be a clergywoman of color.

"I have so much gratitude returning to my alma mater," Pratt said, "I hope I can be an encouraging voice to current students when I say each of us are made in the image of God and God’s spirit dwells in us. I hope this event reminds participants of these deep-seated truths in a way that translates to their everyday lives."

"A Brown Girl's Epiphany: Reclaim Your Intuition and Step into Your Power," is a spiritual memoir that draws upon Pratt’s own experiences to encourage others to listen to their inner voice. "A Brown Girl’s Epiphany" was released on Sept. 13, 2022.

"Aurelia Davila Pratt is an amazing pastor and gifted writer. The beauty with which she shares her story is a gift to claim our own," said Dr. Jon Singletary, Dean of Baylor’s School of Social Work. "Her epiphanies as a woman of color invite us to step into life and mystery and goodness in new and different ways."

This event is open to all and are welcome to join and start their journey of self-healing. For more information visit baylor.edu/library/authorseries.
